School Climate 101: Foundations, Fall 2025

The School Climate Leadership Certification (SCLC) program equips educational leaders with the knowledge base and competencies necessary to create and sustain a positive school climate. It emphasizes the importance of collaborative leadership in school climate improvement and builds capacity for developing a shared vision and effectively utilizing data and action plans to foster equitable, safe, supportive, and healthy climates. Our research-driven approach ensures that you receive high-quality, evidence-based training.

Steps to Starting School Climate 101: Foundations

  • Step 1: Register on This Platform

    Click "Register Here" below. Be sure to include the name of your school or district/organization information to connect you with other team members. PAYMENT INFO: You can either pay through the Thinkific platform at the links below or email [email protected] to be invoiced separately, and we will provide a registration link for you and your team.

  • Step 2: Answer Registration Questions

    Once you complete your registration, you will have have access to the Thinkific platform. On the Thinkific platform, sign up for small group coaching sessions (limited spots available per session) and fill out the welcome questionnaire.

  • Step 3: Preview and Be Ready for Class

    Check your email for a confirmation message with course details. Meet your instructors through provided bios, access course materials and get ready for your first class!

Scholarships

We are pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships covering up to 50% of the participation fee. Applicants will be evaluated based on their demonstrated need, professional goals, and commitment to fostering school climate improvements in their communities.

  • The Fall 2025 Fundamentals SCLC Course runs from Wednesday, October 1st-Wednesday, December 17th

  • Engage in asynchronous released weekly at your convenience, led by experienced facilitators and subject matter experts.

  • Collaborate with peers in monthly skills labs designed to provide you with tangible, actionable information you can immediately apply in your work.

  • Access monthly Office Hours with NSCC coaches to explore questions on school climate and other topics in greater depth.

  • Complete a school climate plan through our online workbook and gather feedback from peers through our online discussion boards.

Course Schedule

Thank you for your interest in the Fall, 2025 School Climate Leadership Certification cohort. Each week, the course explores a different aspect of School Climate. The course is a combination of asynchronous content (videos, readings) and live cohort meetings/skills labs and group coaching. Below is the schedule of live Cohort Meetings/Skills Labs and Group Coaching Sessions (sign up for Group Coaching sessions will be available after registration, with each session limited to 4-5 people). All meetings and coaching sessions are held live over Zoom (link to be provided prior to the initial class).

Kori Hamilton Biagas

Course Instructor/Director, Education Prorgams

Kori Hamilton Biagas, M.Ed. is an educator, connector, truth seeker, master facilitator, and the founder of Just Educators. Kori has nearly 20 years of experience in strategic planning, policy analysis and development, instruction, coaching, and technical assistance. As an Equity Specialist for the Region IV and Region IX equity assistance centers, Kori managed large-scale, racial equity driven school district transformation efforts, led district and state leaders through policy analysis, coached state leaders through school climate transformation initiatives, and provided equity-focused professional learning opportunities at all levels of education. Kori specializes in addressing and resolving inequitable policies, practices, and processes in organizations related to racial equity and social justice.

Christian Villenas, PhD

Course Instructor/Co-Executive Director

Christian Villenas is the Co Executive Director and head of Research, Evaluation, and Measurement at the National School Climate Center (NSCC), where he co-leads the vision and operations of NSCC focusing primarily on research and programmatic initiatives. Christian has spent the last 25 years conducting program evaluation, policy, and statistical analysis on projects related to education at organizations such as GLSEN, American Institutes for Research (AIR), and Advocates for Children of New York. His research has focused on social disparities in education, education policy, school climate, disability studies, LGBTQ students, the diffusion of new educational practices in schools, and college access. He has also taught courses in the sociology of disability, sociology of education, sociology of sports, and statistics. Christian holds a B.S. from New York University, an M.S. in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from the New School, and a Ph.D. in sociology from The Johns Hopkins University.
